Funding from Kickstarter -Not!

Well, I've been screwed over again, sort of!

I signed up to Kickstarter from hearing the amazing story of the iPod Nano Watch and they had a section for musicians for funding a new album etc. I thought I'd take my time on this one and set it up so I could get funding to mix and master my next song "Oblivion". After a few hours of work I find that you can only get the project up for funding if you live in the states or have a US bank account etc!

How backwards is that???!

So anyway, I thought I'd post my article here for anyone interested in funding us, as if any one reads this anyway!

Karma Fire is almost finished their new song "Oblivion" but we require funding for finishing off the single in the highest of quality - this includes mixing, mastering and cover art work. In the mainstream music industry of the 21st Century there are a few scary obstacles that we need to overcome:

1) Lack of money to develop artists

2) Lack of excellence in songwriting and songs that change people's lives, that have substance and meaning with longevity - I'm talking Bob Dylan, Mark Knopfler, Lennon & McCartney and Simon and Garfunkel - where are the torch bearers for these icons?

3) Lack of people who believe that a band needs to develop their skill and ability - can you say Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd? They were supported for a long time before they reached their heights.

4) Lack of people who want to build a career, everyone dashes for the instant cash by appealing to the lowest common denominator, girls in underwear, extreme fashion - nothing to do with music or soul.

That's just a few in a long line of obstacles.

What we plan to do is utilize technology in the studio, mix it with some old school values of songwriting craft, melody and harmony with some inspiring themes that will move you and make you feel again!

As the CD becomes a dinosaur, Karma Fire is latching on to the fact that we need excellent songs not albums with fillers and a couple good songs. We plan to release one superior quality song every 3 months, not a hit, hits are things of the past and are ultimately effervescent in today's music landscape. We plan to release songs that you want to hear again and again that stand the test of time.

We will then infiltrate the music business with Karma Fire's US and AU licensing deals where this music will be played in all major stores soon (email me if you want further details on this).

Do you want a revolution or do you want to sit and watch Katy Perry's boobs?

Breakdown of funding needed for the single Oblivion:

Studio Recording $170

Art Direction photography & Design: $150

Mixing: $250

Mastering: $250

Total: $820

I'm not for a lot of money, there's no rip off here, no underhanded profit, all funding goes to the time taken to create greatness one small brick at a time.
